Mrs. Cotten
Holly Cotten
It is my pleasure to serve as the director of the Ranger Choir program at Raymond Park Middle School. The 2007-2008 school year will be my 3rd year at Raymond Park and my 7th year of teaching music.
I am originally from Arlington, Texas receiving my Bachelor of Music from The University of Texas at Arlington. After receiving my degree, I worked in radio promotions at KSCS & WBAP radio in Dallas/Fort Worth and in concert tour marketing for Insight Management in Nashville, Tennessee. After a short time working in the music business, I began to feel a calling toward education, specifically in music. I remembered how influential my own choir directors had been in my life and desired to devote my life to being the same to other students.
I began singing in my father's church at the age of 4 and began piano at the age of 7. Ironically, I did not join choir until my sophomore year in high school. Obviously, it was a great fit and the rest is history!
In 2005, my husband Paul and I moved to Greenwood, Indiana so that he could pursue his doctorate in music at Indiana University (yes, he's a singer too and we met while performing in the New American Chamber Choir together where our choir director set us up.....see what I mean by influential choir direcotrs?) We just celebrated our 3rd anniversary and have 2 beautiful dogs, Sonata, a golden lab, and Mory, a shih tzu.
